The matrix standard is the national quality standard for any organisation that delivers information, advice and guidance about learning, skills and work.

The eight elements

The matrix standard consists of eight elements. Four elements focus on how you deliver your service so that your customers are:

  • Made aware of the service and how to engage with it;
  • Able to define and understand the service;
  • Provided with access to information – and support in using it; and
  • Supported in exploring options and making choices.

Four elements focus on how you manage your service so that:

  • Service delivery is planned and maintained;
  • Staff competence and the support they are given are sufficient to deliver the service;
  • Feedback on the quality of the service is obtained; and
  • Continuous quality improvement is ensured through monitoring, evaluation and action.
